CALL YOUR NAME
CALL YOUR NAME is a band which was founded by former classmates from student days and musicians meeting at lives in 2009. They officially started with a live in March 2010 and since then vocal 力-TSUTOM-, guitarist NAOTAKA, bassist JIMMY and drummer YUTA are playing together around Tokyo. The band itself states 2012 as their full start, because this was the year when they began playing more lives and producing more songs and videos.
In March 2013, they recorded a live video of their song “D.C.”. Sadly, only a few months later, bassist JIMMY decided to leave the band due to family reasons by December 1, 2013. Since then CALL YOUR NAME are playing with full force as a trio, looking for a new bassist.
Nevertheless, on December 21, 2013 the band released their first mini album “ONEcall”, which is sold only at their lives and includes four songs, among them also “D.C.”. The release was celebrated with a live in Otsuka Deepa, which was hosted by CALL YOUR NAME. Alongside others, also Leyline and Liquidz Edge performed with them. Also shortly after, CALL YOUR NAME produced the trailer for the aforementioned mini album and published it on Youtube.
Right now, CALL YOUR NAME are playing lives in Tokyo’s clubs. Try to catch them and have a good time!
CALL YOUR NAME’s sound is a mix of many genres. The members are influenced by Hard and Loud Rock, pop music, Emo, Screamo, Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk and even Classical music, which results in a very diverse sound. Still their base is rock music, which can be heard from the very first note. At the same time, they manage to weave in pop tunes, hard rock elements and calm ballad-like tunes. This band is fit for partying as well as headbanging and dreaming and thus never gets boring. 力-TSUTOM-‘s voice is high and clear, while he’s singing completely in Japanese, garnished with single shouts. NAOTAKA and YUTA are providing the rocking frame for their songs, sometimes upbeat, sometimes hard and in songs like “from Missing” even calm and emotional. At their concerts, you can rock and dance with them but also experience some sentimental moments. If you have the chance, you should definitely check CALL YOUR NAME out!
